Over the next weeks I will be exploring the new wave of apps, activity trackers and monitors which would seem, at first glance, to be mechanical, cold and non-human, but which have, ironically, inspired people to be more proactive, creative, excited, involved with their own health, and invested in like-minded community.

I think this is because these devices provide such things as instant, non-judgmental progress reports, reminders to do things in a way that is not interpreted as nagging, an inspiration to invest in friendly competition, results that are displayed privately, access to cool technology as well as solid science, and some apps turn results of personal activity into support for social causes so we can do good for ourselves while doing good for others.

Combining health and technology helps us do things like exercise, meditate, sleep, get organized and be punctual, which we know will be good for us and help us feel better in body, mind and spirit.

So technology has become a gateway to holistic health!

Interesting. Stay tuned! More coming next week.

Wishing you all the best,
