Welcome to the latest edition of Acu-Minute and our new topic…The Power of Touch.

Did you know that skin is actually an organ…like the heart, liver or kidneys? In fact, covering the whole body, it is our largest organ. It must be pretty important, right?

Yes, it holds all of the other organs in place. It also creates a protective barrier between our inside world and the outside world.

It is an active, responsive organ that can fend off infection, repair itself if breached through minor cuts or wounds and it helps with temperature regulation.

Skin is also the vehicle for touch… touching and being touched by others, which is profoundly important to our health and well being.

Touch, at best, can be powerful, wonderful, healing, soothing and intimacy promoting. On the other hand, if used mindlessly or improperly, touch can be damaging.

Stay tuned over the next few weeks for more on this hidden-in-plain-sight amazing capacity we all share.

Wishing you all the best,
